About Us
The origins of The Priory Tavern
The Priory Tavern is named after the Kilburn Priory that was founded in 1130, located where the Kilburn High Road meets the Westbourne stream. For centuries, the priory offered rest and refreshment to the local community and travelling Christian pilgrims on the way to the shrines of St Albans Abbey. We are also the pub where George Orwell drank when he wrote Animal Farm in 1942–44. Today, we continue the tradition of welcoming people from near and far, providing a pub full of unique spirit and entertainment, where people come together to enjoy great food, drink, and times.
