Our History
The Priory Tavern is a historic pub located in the heart of Kilburn (previously Keeleburne meaning either the royal or cow’s stream). Drawing our name from the Kilburn Priory founded in 1130, the pub and the surrounding area are steeped in the rich history of the small monastic community of nuns that lived here up until 1533, and provides the names for a variety of surrounding locations, including the nearby famous Abbey Road.
Owned and run by a partnership of long-term publican and Head Chef team that bring together years of experience creating the perfect London pub experience. Having worked in various pubs across London, our Head Chef’s famous Sunday Roasts won runner-up in the Observer’s Best Sunday Lunch 2019, amongst other accolades and awards.
We believe passionately in a traditional British pub experience with great food and a warm and inviting environment and look forward to welcoming you to our historic pub!
Celebrating kilburn's musical past
Kilburn has a diverse and rich musical history. The famous Gaumont State Cinema on Kilburn High Road played host to some of the world’s greatest musical artists including acts such as Louis Armstrong, David Bowie, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra, The Who and many more. We are proud of Kilburn’s musical past and celebrate and pay homage to the artists that passed through our great area and we also host today’s local musical talent with weekly live Jazz sessions and other musical acts.
